Open Up is not a crisis service. If you or someone you know needs immediate help please contact one of the services below immediately.
If someone is hurt or in danger call the emergency services straight away. Emergency services can be contacted at any time by dialling 999 or 112 in Republic of Ireland or 112 in Europe.
The Barrow Children’s disability network team is an inter-disciplinary team providing therapeutic supports to children who have complex needs arising from a disability. The team consists of a number of health and social care professionals including Nursing, Social worker, Psychologist, Occupational therapist, Speech and language therapist and Physiotherapist.
The team delivers family centered services to the children with complex needs. This involves developing an Individual family support plan for children and their families through collaboration with the parents. Once the goals are identified the team then tries to meet these goals either through targeted supports (Parent workshops on different topics) or through individual supports where there are specific needs eg: wheelchair assessment. The team also provide diagnostic assessments when indicated and provide some post- diagnostic support where indicated following the assessment. Transition assessments are also carried out where indicated for children who are transitioning to Primary school and may require additional supports or a specialist placement.
The Spraoi building is wheelchair accessible.
Before this website came along, we weren’t sure what services were available locally and how to access them. It’s great to now see them all listed in one place with lots of useful information and contact details.
