Open up Laois Offaly is an online focal point for young people, professionals and parents to easily access information on local supports and services.

The aim of this website is to provide a space for children, youth and families to connect and engage with local services and supports. If we are open to trying new things and exploring what is available locally, we can be pleasantly surprised with the help we can find along the way.

So, the CYPSC (Children and Young People’s Services Committees) worked with Youth Work Ireland Laois to secure funding from Healthy Ireland to develop this website. A big thank you to everyone who made it happen, including the youth advisory panel who came up with the name and design.

Young people told us they weren’t sure what services were available to support their mental health. They weren’t clear how to access the services and they wanted one
space where all the services were listed. Indeed, the adult stakeholders told us something similar.

The workings of the website are overseen by the Active and Healthy CYPSC subgroup who are drawn from a wide range of services and backgrounds involved in
supporting children and families at different ages and stages. Members include Laois Offaly ETB, Tusla, HSE, CAMHS/YAMHS, Primary Care Psychology, Gardai, Foroige, Youth Work Ireland Laois and Laois Partnership.

Before this website came along, we weren’t sure what services were available locally and how to access them. It’s great to now see them all listed in one place with lots of useful information and contact details.
